Mermaid-Wands Craft

Mermaids need wands too!

Here is a lovely ocean themed craft for your favorite little mermaid. This project was actually mostly done right on the beach! Have fun collecting the driftwood “wand” of your child’s choice, and some fresh strands of seaweed. In addition to the driftwood wand and fresh seaweed you will need some optional items to embelish and seal your wand, such as:

glitter paint

Tacky glue

beads, jewels, ribbon

Wrap the seaweed strands around the driftwood wand in whatever way you like, tuck the ends under so it is tightly secured. I wrapped some around both the top and bottom of the wand. Allow the seaweed to dry completely while wrapped, may take a few days. Seal with a couple coats of good craft glue or Mod Podge, let dry. Follow with a coat or two of glitter paint and glue on beads. Finally, tie ribbon on and cast a spell!

Magical!

  2. Will do! I don’t have my own kids but maybe I’ll take my friends’ kids for a mermaid wand-making adventure! I have done kids parties as a fairy and had the kids all make wands.
